Ramming Mass Used In the Glass Furnace
There are generally three types of ramming mass used in the glass furnace, including zorconite, low shrinkage AZSC ramming mass and
AZS ramming mass.
1) Zirconite ramming mass
It contains 62% ZrO2, 32% SiO2, 2% Al2O3 and 0.5% Fe2O3. Its bulk density is 3g/cm3, refractoriness is above 1790℃ and the maximum particle size is 0.5mm. The bond agents are aluminum dihydrogen phosphate formulated with orthophosphoric acid and aluminum hydroxide. It has firm bonding, high strength and high temperature resistance, but it is easy to be air dried, cannot be stored for a long time and is corrosive to the skin and inconvenient to use.
2) AS ramming mass
It is made of AZS scrap as the raw material and contains 48% Al2O3, 30% ZrO2 and 20% SiO2. The main crystal phase include α-Al2O3, mullite, baddeleyite and glassy phase. The maximum particle size is 5 mm. When used, add water and stir. The bulk density is 3.2 g/cm3 and the porosity is 12%. It has a low potential of bubbling and has good corrosion resistance to glass liquid at 1400℃. It can also be used in the sealing layer and castable.
3) Low shrinkage AZSC ramming mass
It is a chromium-containing material by introducing Chrome on the basis of AZS. Its bulk density is over 2.9 g/cm3. Its reheating linear shrinkage (1400 ℃, 3 h) is less than 0.2%. it has better corrosion resistance to glass liquid than the above ramming mass. It can also be used as the sealing material and castable.
