Refractory Materials Used In the Shaft Kiln
Shaft kiln, also called vertical kiln, is used for calcining cement clinker, high alumina clinker, clay, limestone, dolomite and magnesium stone. Its size is divided by volume. The volume of the commonly used kiln is used 100-300m3.
According to the thermal conditions in different parts of the kiln, the shaft kiln generally adopts 3-4 layer composite lining structure.
Inversed cone inlet is in direct contact with the hot face and subjected to the most serious high temperature and physical and chemical corrosion. Coupled with mechanical damages, it has short service life and needs to be replaced frequently. The inversed cone inlet lining should have goof thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance. Currently, phosphate bonded alumina brick is thought as an ideal lining material. Phosphate bonded alumina brick has the following features:
1) High strength and good wear resistance
2) Good chemical corrosion resistance and better alkali resistance than fire clay brick and high alumina brick
3) Good thermal shock resistance
4) High softening temperature under load
According to the softening temperature under load, phosphate bonded alumina bricks can be divided into high grade and low grade. The softening temperature under load of low-grade phosphate bricks is 1300-1350℃, while the softening temperature under load of high-grade phosphate bricks is above 1500℃. Phosphate bricks can form a layer of coating on the lining bricks, which can protect the lining and prolong its service life.
The cooling zone is mainly damaged by wear. So, the lining material is required to have good wear resistance. Besides, in order to dissipate the heat of clinker quickly, the lining material should have good heat transferring performance. Phosphate bonded alumina brick has high strength, good wear resistance and high thermal conductivity. It is the preferred material in the cooling zone. under 800℃, the wear rate of the brick is less than 2% (1.63%-1.87%). High strength dense fire clay brick can be used in the common shaft kiln and simple small diameter shaft kiln.
The thickness of the insulation layer should be determined according to the environment of the factory. Lightweight monolithic refractory concrete and prefabricated lightweight insulation products can be used.
In shaft kilns with a diameter above 2.5m, the insulation layer is generally composed of insulation bricks and insulation fillers. Lightweight insulation materials with low thermal conductivity and high insulation can be used in the outer layer of the lining. Insulation fillers used in the insulation layer include expanded perlite, expanded vermiculite, slag wool and ceramic fiber.
