The Hot Repair of Glass Furnaces
The hot repair is the repair and modification of damaged parts under the premise of ensuring the normal operation of the furnace. After a period of operation, refractory bricks including sidewall bricks, regenerator checker bricks and gun bricks will be severely damaged under the effect of high temperature and the erosion of glass liquid. If not repaired in time, it will produce great damage.
The traditional hot repair has harsh environment and requires intensive labor. Although the situation is improved after advanced refractory materials are used, it is still relatively hard and onerous and may interfere the normal production. Currently, the hot repair methods mainly include hot repair method and hot oxygen gunning method.
The hot repair method is suitable to the reinforcement and plugging of refractories in the later campaign of the furnace. It may affect the normal operation of the furnace and pollute the glass liquid.
The hot oxygen gunning method is to repair the damaged parts by gunning the similar refractory powder and melting and welding at high temperature. Hot oxygen gunning method can quickly and safely repair refractories. It is effective for ordinary wear and erosion, displacement or occasional breakage, even caulking or hot plugging holes and other parts that cannot be repaired with traditional repair method. It can help to improve the efficiency of the furnace.
Hot repair should not affect the production. Since the hot repair is carried out in the hot state, it is dangerous. So no matter the size of the task, it should be well-organized, and the hot repair program should be repeatedly demonstrated to ensure personal safety.
