Properties And Advantages Of High Alumina Brick
High alumina brick is a kind of alumina silicate refractory product of which the Al2O3 content is from 48% to 90%. It is mainly used in glass furnace, blast furnace and cement rotary kiln.
High alumina brick is made of high-quality bauxite clicker as starting material by shaping at high pressure and sintering at high temperature. The manufacturing technology of high alumina brick is similar to that of fireclay brick. The difference is that the raw materials of high alumina brick has a proportion of clinker and it has higher firing temperature. It is available in various shapes, including standard shape, normal shape and special shape. It has high temperature resistance, good chemical erosion resistance, good thermal shock resistance and slag resistance.
The refractoriness under load of high alumian brick is higher than fireclay bricks and much higher of the refractoriness under load with more content of alumina, up to 1750 ~ 1790 ℃.
Since high alumina brick contains high content of Al2O3 and low content of impurities, it contains a small amount of glass phase, thus its loading softening temperature is higher than that of fireclay brick but lower than silica brick because the mullite crystals do not form network structure.
The thermal shock resistance of high alumina bricks are largely depends on the mineral composition and chemistry micro-structure. Its thermal shock resistance is worse than that of fireclay bricks.
Since high alumina brick contains high content of Al2O3, its property is close to neutral refractories. It can withstand the corrosion of both acid and alkali slag. Since it contains SiO2, it has better corrosion resistance to alkali slag than to acid slag. In addition, they has good performance of oxidation reduction reaction.
Manufacturing cost and price of these brick increase more rapidly with % alumina content, so it is essential to determine the most economical alumina content for each service. The price of high alumina brick is higher than that of fireclay brick, so there is no need to use high alumina brick when fireclay brick is enough to meet the requirement.
Sunrise provides high alumina bricks with 48%~80% Al2O3 in various shapes. Our high alumina bricks are made of high-quality bauxite clicker as starting material by sgaping at high pressure and sintering at high temperature.
